Gary McBride is a lifelong County of San Bernardino resident. He joined the County as a Fiscal Clerk I in 1994 and worked his way up through the organization including serving as the County’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer before retiring in 2023. Along the way he helped lead the County through multiple credit rating upgrades and as the County as CEO he led the County through the difficult Corona virus pandemic.
In addition to his role at SBCERA, Gary serves on the Redlands Community Hospital Board of Directors and sits on the Investment and Finance committee, is a Board Member of the California State University San Bernardino Foundation and chairs the investment committee, and sits on the Board of the California affiliate of Destination Imagination, a global creative/critical thinking, team based, creative problem-solving competition for students aged Kindergarten through University.
Mr. McBride received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, both from California State University San Bernardino and has taken multiple continuing education courses at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
He lives in Redlands with his wife Kathy.
