Thomas Kim

Thomas Kim serves as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association (SBCERA). Since joining SBCERA in 2020, Mr. Kim has held several key positions within the Investment Department, including Senior Investment Officer and Deputy CIO, before assuming his current role as CIO. Throughout his tenure, he has played an integral role in developing and implementing investment policies, evaluating investment opportunities, and selecting investment managers.

Prior to joining SBCERA, Mr. Kim served as a consultant to the investment chair of a hospital endowment and pension, where he supported asset allocation and investment manager research. Earlier in his career, he held investment positions at several hedge funds, focusing on equity investments across a variety of sectors and strategies. He began his career in investment banking, specializing in mergers and acquisitions within the technology sector.

Mr. Kim earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University.
