We Are SBCERA: Tim Watkins

Meet Tim Watkins, Chief of Legislative and Public Affairs for the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.

Tim has dedicated over 30 years to public service—helping connect communities through transportation. After overcoming a fear of public speaking, Tim found his place in public affairs, where he now helps deliver transportation projects that connect people to jobs, healthcare, and everyday opportunities across San Bernardino County.

“For many people, without transportation, their access to opportunity, health care, education—getting kids to opportunities they have—doesn’t exist without an effective transportation system.”

Whether it’s helping deliver critical infrastructure like the Mount Vernon Avenue Bridge or supporting innovative, first-of-their-kind transit solutions, Tim takes pride in seeing the real impact of his work in the communities he serves.

Reflecting on his SBCERA pension, he shares, “Being part of SBCERA has given me real confidence as I move into this next stage of life. I know I have a trusted partner, and I feel secure that my investment will be there for years to come.”
