We Are SBCERA: Kathleen Brennan

Meet Kathleen Breenan, Systems Support Analyst with San Bernardino County’s Information Technology Department and President of Teamsters Local 1932.

Kathleen began her career in an entry-level position with the County’s IT Department, where she continues to proudly serve today. Her experience has shown her just how many opportunities exist for professional growth and advancement within the County.

“Once you’re in, any job you can think of, from airline pilot to zookeeper, the County has it!”

Today, Kathleen is part of a small mainframe support team that helps ensure County employees have secure, reliable access to the information they need to do their jobs. With sensitive information regularly exchanged between departments, she considers her team the backbone of County operations, supporting the systems that allow essential services to run smoothly.

As President of Teamsters Local 1932, Kathleen also values the strong partnership between Teamsters and SBCERA, particularly their collaboration on retirement seminars. She has seen firsthand how these seminars help employees better understand their retirement benefits, explore their options, and feel more confident planning for the future.

When she thinks about her own retirement, Kathleen looks forward to purchasing an RV with her wife and traveling across the country. But even as she anticipates new adventures, she hopes to stay connected to the organizations and people who have been such an important part of her life.

“I don’t think I’ll ever walk away. I’ll always be accessible to the County, or to the Union, or to SBCERA. I don’t ever want to walk away from something that gave me so much.”

Kathleen’s story is a reminder that a career in public service is about more than the work we do. It’s also about the relationships we build, the opportunities we create, and the lasting impact of serving others.
