Message from the Managing Trustee
On behalf of the San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association (SBCERA) Board of Retirement (Board), management and staff, I am pleased to unveil the first issue of Employer News, our enhanced online newsletter for participating SBCERA employers.
SBCERA has administered retirement benefits since 1945. Since then, our Plan size has grown to nearly $9.9 billion (as of March 31, 2018), and the number of members and beneficiaries has increased to over 38,000. As SBCERA has grown, so has our responsibility to provide the very best in pension administration and communication.
Knowing our responsibility, we strive to empower all stakeholders with factual, detailed and useful information. We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive communication to members through an abundance of seminars and webinars, direct mailings, the SBCERA website and online member portal, MemberDirect, not to mention YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
Through Employer News, we seek to inspire a forward-thinking conversation. Our aim is to provide you with important news and updates and offer technical assistance where applicable. The newsletter will typically feature a main story regarding big picture matters at SBCERA or the pension industry, SBCERA investment or actuarial updates and payroll instructions, among other items.
We are confident Employer News will serve an educational purpose, and we also view it as an opening for increased dialogue. As always, we welcome questions and feedback about our newsletter content, as well as the overall quality of service and communication we provide.
