2017

  • The American Advertising Federation: Inland Empire – SBCERA and our graphic design partner, Spencer Lewis Group, have won a Silver American Advertising Award for the 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), "SB Strong." The competition recognizes those who demonstrate the highest level of creative excellence in advertising.

2016

  • PRSA Inland Empire Polaris Awards - SBCERA was recognized with a Polaris Award and a Capella Award from the Public Relations Society of America - Inland Empire Chapter (PRSA-IE). The Polaris was awarded for SBCERA's 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), "Enjoying the Fruits of Retirement," and the Capella Award was presented for the Quarterly Review newsletter. The annual Polaris Awards recognize the very best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution in the Inland Empire, and represent the highest standards of performance in the public relations profession.
  • California Association of Public Information Officers (CAPIO) Excellence in Communications Awards for the “SBCERA Pre-Retirement Webinar” in the category of Digital/Interactive, eGovernment Services. CAPIO's "Excellence in Communication" awards recognize the most creative and effective efforts in the areas of communication and marketing campaigns, newsletter production, photography, special events, writing, website development and video production.
  • The American Advertising Federation: Inland Empire – Bronze American Advertising Award (previously known as ADDYs) for the 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), "Enjoying the Fruits of Retirement." The competition recognizes those who demonstrate the highest level of creative excellence in advertising.

2015

  • PRSA Inland Empire Polaris Awards - The SBCERA 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), "Managing Your Retirement Resources," earned a Polaris Award in 2015. According to PRSA-IE, the annual award recognizes public relations tactics and programs that successfully incorporate sound research, planning, execution and evaluation. The Polaris Awards represent the highest standards of performance in the public relations profession in the Inland Empire.
  • Asset International's Chief Investment Officer (aiCIO) - aiCIO has named Don Pierce, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at the San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association (SBCERA) as #48 in "The New Power 100" investment officer rankings. "He is 'one of the most creative and thoughtful' public fund investors around, according to his peers."

 

2014

  • Asset International's Chief Investment Officer (aiCIO) - Don Pierce, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at the San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association (SBCERA) has been named as #61 out of the top "100 most influential and powerful asset owners on earth" in 2014.
  • PRSA Inland Empire Polaris Awards - The SBCERA 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) "Mission: Retirement," was acknowledged with a Polaris Award in 2014. The Polaris Award is an annual program that recognizes the very best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution in the Inland Empire. The Polaris Award represents the highest standards of performance in the public relations profession.
  • 17th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for SBCERA's 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) “Mission: Retirement”. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting.
  • California Association of Public Information Officers (CAPIO) Excellence in Communications Awards for the following SBCERA communication materials and programs: the "Summary Plan Description, The Compass"; in the "Special: Dollar Stretcher Award" category and “SBCERA Mobile App: Stay In Touch with SBCERA” in the "Electronic: New Media" category. CAPIO's "Excellence in Communication" awards recognize the most creative and effective efforts in the areas of communication and marketing campaigns, newsletter production, photography, special events, writing, website development and video production.

 

2013

  • Asset International’s Chief Investment Officer (aiCIO) - 4th Annual Industry Innovation Award for “Public Pension Plan Below $15 Billion." As part of the judging process and magazine article, aiCIO cited the fact that SBCERA recorded a 15.4 percent return year-to-date and a three-year annualized return of 12.6 percent through an innovative strategy based on income-oriented investing and using options to manage risk.

  • 16th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for SBCERA's 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting.

 

2012

  • Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Polaris Awards for the following SBCERA communication materials and programs: the 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), “The Art of Investments” in the Annual Report category and “The 2011 Compass Update” in the Overall Public Relations Program category. The Polaris Awards symbolize the best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution. Entries were judged by another chapter based on the four-step public relations process to research, plan, implement and evaluate public relations programs and projects.
  • 15th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for SBCERA's 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting.
  • Edward D. Baker III Journal Award from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) for the academic paper “Dynamic Beta: Getting Paid to Manage Risks,” written by Donald Pierce (SBCERA Chief Investment Officer), James Perry (SBCERA Senior Investment Officer), Timothy Barrett (Eastman Kodak, formerly with SBCERA) and Arun Muralidhar (AlphaEngine Global Investment Solutions).

 

2011

  • Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Polaris Award for the following SBCERA communication materials: Vested In the Plan and Eligible to Retire postcards. The Polaris Awards symbolize the best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution.
