SBCERA Congratulates Returning Board Members
The results are in. On December 4th, three seats on the Board of Retirement went before the SBCERA membership for voting: one General Member Trustee seat, the Safety Member Trustee seat and the Alternate Safety Member Trustee seat. The election results were certified December 18th by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
Based on the official results, all of the following incumbents were re-elected:
Donald Neely has served as a General Member Trustee since January 1, 2008. He has been employed by the County of San Bernardino for more than 12 years, and currently works as a Licensed Forensic Mental Health Specialist for the Department of Behavioral Health.
“It is an honor to be selected again by my colleagues,” said Neely. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work with my fellow trustees to ensure a reliable and secure retirement for current and future members and beneficiaries.”
David Williams was re-elected as the Safety Member Trustee. He has served on the Board since January 1, 2009 and is currently the Vice Chairman. He is a Captain with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department where he has worked since 1984.
“I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the last three years”, said Williams. I sincerely appreciate the support I received in my re-election effort and I look forward to tackling the challenges facing our plan and members in the years ahead.”
Bret Henry was re-elected as the Alternate Safety Member Trustee. He was first elected to the Board in 2003. Henry is a Captain with the County of San Bernardino Fire Department. He has worked for the County for more than 15 years.
“I am fortunate to serve SBCERA and our members,” said Henry. “I look forward to using my institutional knowledge of the fund to help navigate us through this uncertain economic environment and sluggish recovery.”
SBCERA thanks its members for participating in this year’s election. The election was held in accordance with the Uniform District Election Law, and conducted under the Mail Ballot procedure.
In addition to the certification of these election results, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors also reappointed Neal Waner and Brendan Brandt to the Board of Retirement. Waner has served on the Board since December 2010 and Brandt was first appointed in April 2011.
Each elected and appointed trustee will serve a three-year term, effective January 1, 2013.

Ballots Mailed, Must Return by Dec. 4, 2012
SBCERA’s Election Day is coming soon. The Registrar of Voters (ROV) has finished mailing this year’s official Board of Retirement ballots to all active and deferred SBCERA members.
SBCERA members must complete and return their ballots, by mail or in person, to the ROV by Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is expected to officially certify the results on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. All elected trustees will serve a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2013. Additional information will be posted to our website as it becomes available.

Filing Period Ends, Candidates Announced
The filing period for three seats on the SBCERA Board of Retirement ended Friday. The Registrar of Voters has announced the following candidates for this year’s election:
General Member Candidates (1 seat available)
Safety Member & Alternate Safety Member Candidates (2 seats available)
Official ballots will be mailed to all active and deferred SBCERA members starting November 5, 2012. Completed ballots must be returned to the Registrar of Voters by 5:00 p.m. on Board of Retirement Election Day, December 4, 2012.
We will post additional information on our website as it becomes available. All Board of Retirement elections are conducted by the Registrar of Voters under the Mail Ballot procedure and in accordance with the Uniform District Election Law.

Board of Retirement Election Underway, Filing Period Ends Sept. 7
Today, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved the 2012 SBCERA Board of Retirement Election. This year, General and Safety (active and deferred) members will vote to fill three seats on the SBCERA Board of Retirement:
All Board of Retirement elections are conducted by the Registrar of Voters (ROV) under the Mail Ballot procedure and in accordance with the Uniform District Election Law.
