SBCERA ELECTION RESULTS ARE IN
SBCERA is pleased to announce the results of the December 8, 2009 Board of Retirement Trustee Election. Three seats went before the SBCERA membership for voting: one General Member seat, the Safety Member seat and the Alternate Safety Member seat. The Board’s three incumbents were all successfully reelected to another three-year term. The official election results from the Registrar of Voters were as follows:
Donald Neely (General Member): 73.62%
Lieutenant David Williams (Safety Member): 68.91%
Captain Bret Henry (Alternate Safety Member): 30.57%.
Donald Neely was elected to his second term. He began his first term January 1, 2008 after he was elected to fill a vacated seat on the board. He serves on the Investment and Benefits and Compensation Committees.
“It is such an honor to have the confidence of current and future retirees,” said Neely. “I look forward to the coming years as we work together to navigate the financial markets to ensure a safe and secure retirement for each of our members.”
Elected for the first time last year, incumbent Lieutenant David Williams successfully won his bid for his first full three-year term. Williams has been on the board since January 1, 2009. He, too, was elected to fill a vacated seat. He currently serves on the Board’s Audit Committee.
“This has been a truly rewarding experience,” said Williams. “I am extremely grateful for the support of my fellow Safety members, and I am eager to serve over the next three years.”
Alternate Safety Member Captain Bret Henry, also the incumbent, was elected for a third time. Henry has served on the Board since January 1, 2004.
“It is a privilege to serve with such an amazing group of individuals who work tirelessly to ensure a secure future for our members,” said Henry. “I am thankful to once again have the opportunity to be a part of this group, and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
SBCERA thanks everyone who participated in this year’s election. The election was in accordance with the Uniform District Election Law, and conducted under the Mail Ballot procedure. Each elected member will serve a three-year term, effective January 1, 2010.
