2009 Board of Retirement Trustee Election
The San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association (SBCERA) is pleased to announce that the 2009 Board of Retirement election is now underway. The Registrar of Voters will conduct the election on Dec. 8, 2009 in accordance with the Uniform District Election Law. All balloting will be conducted under the Mail Ballot procedure.
This year, three seats will be placed before the SBCERA membership for voting: one General Member to be elected by the General Members and a Safety Member and Alternate Safety Member who will be elected by Law Enforcement and Fire Suppression members. The Law Enforcement or Fire Suppression member who receives the highest number of votes will take the Safety Member seat and the runner-up from the opposite group will take the Alternate Safety Member seat. Each elected member will serve a three-year term, effective January 1, 2010.
Declarations of Candidacy and procedural information may be obtained from the office of the Registrar of Voters at 777 East Rialto Avenue San Bernardino. Candidates’ declarations will be accepted from Aug. 17th thru Sept. 11th at 5:00 p.m. Official ballots will be mailed to all SBCERA voting members between Nov. 9th and Nov 30th. All completed ballots must be received at the Registrar’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Dec.8th in order to be counted.
