The most up-to-date version of The Compass: Navigating Your Retirement Benefit Plan, more formally known as the SBCERA Summary Plan Description, is always available online. The Compass was last updated in 2011. Changes were made to several pages. SBCERA is in the process of updating The Compass per the California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) effective January 1, 2013. Stay tuned for an updated version coming soon.

To update your Compass, click the image below, print all pages of the document and replace them in your Compass binder. Or, you can download and save this document as a PDF to your computer. SBCERA will notify members any time updates are made to The Compass.

To determine whether your Compass has been updated, look at the date on the cover page and be sure to replace the cover any time you update The Compass. To reduce costs and ensure timeliness and accuracy for our members, updates to this document will only be mailed to members and beneficiaries upon request.
