• Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Polaris Awards for the following SBCERA communication materials and programs: the 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), “The Art of Investments” in the Annual Report category and “The 2011 Compass Update” in the Overall Public Relations Program category. The Polaris Awards symbolize the best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution. Entries were judged by another chapter based on the four-step public relations process to research, plan, implement and evaluate public relations programs and projects.
• 15th Consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for SBCERA's 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting.
• Edward D. Baker III Journal Award from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) for the academic paper “Dynamic Beta: Getting Paid to Manage Risks,” written by Donald Pierce (SBCERA Chief Investment Officer), James Perry (SBCERA Senior Investment Officer), Timothy Barrett (Eastman Kodak, formerly with SBCERA) and Arun Muralidhar (AlphaEngine Global Investment Solutions).
